### Recipe Details

### Ingredients
- [ ] olive oil, to over bottom of pot
- [ ] 4 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted)
- [ ] 2 medium onion, finely diced
- [ ] 4 cloves garlic, minced
- [ ] 1 tsp dried oregano
- [ ] Red pepper flakes to taste
- [ ] 2 28 oz cans of whole tomatoes, crushed by hand or in blender/processor
- [ ] 2 stems fresh basil
- [ ] salt to taste
### Directions
1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large pot
2. Add the onion and cooked until softened
3. Add garlic, oregano, and pepper flakes and cook for about 1 minute
4. Add the tomatoes and stems of basil
5. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes
6. Season with salt to taste
